Footage shows the moment hundreds of activists from the group march on London Bridge as they protest against the jailing of nine members from the group earlier this week, known as the ‘Highway 9’.

The climate change group marched through central London, making their way through Westminster, Temple and over the River Thames as they protest against the arrest of the members on Tuesday.

Activists from the group can be seen brandishing signs donned with slogans saying “betrayed by my government” and  “good people disobey bad laws”.

They can also be heard chanting “people going to rise like the waters, tear this system down” as they march in their droves.

Traffic can be seen backed up along the bridge as police stop any vehicles moving, while activists take up the lane marching southbound.

The nine members from the group were jailed at the High Court in London on Tuesday after they admitted breaching an injunction by taking part in a blockade at junction 25 of the M25 on 8 October.

Ben Buse, 36, Roman Paluch-Machnik, 28, Oliver Rock, 41, Emma Smart, 44, Tim Speers, 36, and James Thomas, 47, all received four-month sentences.

While Ana Heyatawin, 58, and Louis McKechnie, 20, were jailed for three months.

Following the sentencing, the judge slammed: “The defendants, or some of them, seem to want to be martyrs for their cause, and the media campaign surrounding this hearing appears designed to suggest this.”
