For the eleventh day of protests in three weeks, the activist group Insulate Britain are protesting again despite the injunction from the Government. The group said it was blocking three major routes into London on Monday, including Hanger Lane and Arnos Grove alongside the Blackwall Tunnel.
The group said around 50 people were involved in the demonstration.
Police officers are standing by as the activists cause long delays for those trying to enter the capital.
This latest protest comes just 24 hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson threatened fines or jail time for activists who shut down vital transport links.
Mr Johnson said: “This administration will always be on the side of the law-abiding majority, guaranteeing the harshest possible penalties for criminals who intentionally bring important roads to a halt.
“We will give the police the powers they need to put an end to their reckless and selfish behavior.
“The right to protest is sacred, but there is no right to inflict chaos and misery on people trying to live their lives.”
Under the law, activists who block roads can face up to six months in prison.
However, police have complained they have insufficient powers to stop eco-protesters from shutting down some of the major roads across the country including the M25, M1 and M4.
Many people took to Twitter to launch attacks on the group and some even on the police.
One person, @araharmonic, tweeted: “Blocking Blackwall tunnel on a Monday morning is a next level of premeditated violence.”
@Anthonyainsdale tweeted: “Insulate Britain morons are blocking the Blackwall tunnel this morning.
“The police are just stood next to them watching.
“They are absolutely bloody useless!”
@Magistratesblog added: “I hear that @InsulateLove activists have blocked the Blackwall Tunnel this morning, thereby inconveniencing literally thousands of motorists.
“Where’s the @metpoliceuk Nightingale custody suites when you need them?”
Someone else, @murshhabib, described the scenes as “absolutely insane”.
