Video footage has emerged of a lorry exploding on the M25 after catching fire. The inferno has caused delays of up to an hour on the moterway. Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed they had rushed to the scene.
At 12.14pm, they said: “Crews are currently dealing with a fire involving a lorry carrying a generator on the M25 anti-clockwise between junctions 15 (M4 interchange) and 14 (Heathrow)”.
Highways England confirmed “the carriageway is currently closed at the J15 exit slip”.
They wrote on Twitter: “M25 at Junction 15 anti-clockwise we have an HGV fire.
“The Fire Brigade are on scene dealing but the carriageway is currently closed at the J15 exit slip. Further updates will follow. #Heathrow #Thorney.”
They later added: “Please be aware that this incident is causing delays of 60 mins above normal journey time for this time of day.
“There is just over 5 miles of congestion on approach.
“Please allow plenty of extra time for your journey if you are travelling in the area.”
