A man was stabbed to death and three others were injured during a mass brawl in the street in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called just after midnight to a suburb of Sheffield following reports of violence and a ‘large-scale disturbance’.
A man was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds to his upper body, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Three other men received injuries which are not life-threatening and are currently receiving treatment.
The names and ages of the victims are not yet known.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘Just after midnight today police were called to reports of a stabbing on Horninglow Road in the Firth Park area of Sheffield.
‘A man was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his upper body but was sadly pronounced dead shortly after.
‘Three other men whose ages are not known sustained none life threatening injuries arising from the same incident and are receiving treatment.
‘Detectives are carrying out enquiries and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.’
Police say there will be an increased police presence in the area over the weekend while they carry out an investigation.
They have also appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
