Man stabbed to death in brawl outside house party named

A man who was stabbed to death in a ‘large scale disorder’ in Sheffield has been named by police as 35-year-old Marcus Ramsay.

Emergency services and police were called to Firth Park at 12.20am on Saturday following reports of violence outside a house party.

Marcus was rushed to hospital after being found with stab wounds to his upper body. He died shortly after as a result of a stab wound, a post-mortem found.

Three other men, all aged 24, were treated at hospital for ‘non-life threatening injuries’ and have been discharged.

South Yorkshire Police have renewed their appeal for anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who attended the house party.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton said: ‘The answers to this investigation lie within the local community.

‘I am aware that there were large numbers of people congregated on Horninglow Road due to a house party and I believe that many of them will have seen the altercation that led to Mr Ramsay being fatally injured’.

He asked anyone with information to come forward and ‘provide answers for Mr Ramsay’s family’.

DCI Oughton said: ‘I am urging anyone who saw what happened or knows who is responsible, to get in touch’.

South Yorkshire Police said its officers are still in Firth Park as they investigate and carry out forensic work. Increased patrols in the area are set to continue throughout the week.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 18 of August 8, 2020.
