Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze at Southwold Harbour on the East Coast. Local residents reported hearing a loud bang with an explosion so loud it shook nearby caravans shortly before 1am today (Monday, May 1). Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed they have sent 10 appliances from across the county to the scene of the blaze.
Pictures shared on Twitter show huge flames and plumes of smoke spread across the sky.
One local tweeted: “Massive explosion followed by fire in Southwold Harbour. Explosion shook the caravan.”
Others suggested the fire had broken out in a chip shop at the harbour.
