William and Kate were married on April 29, 2011, and a number of royals made public tributes to commemorate the occasion on Thursday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who split from the main Royal Family, didn’t issue a public statement.

However The Daily Beast was briefed the couple had “privately congratulated” William and Kate.

A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry later confirmed the message had been sent.

However the couple were criticised by royal experts who suggested the leak may have come from their team.

Speaking to The Sun royal author Phil Dampier said: “The Queen and Prince Charles made their messages of congratulations to William and Kate on their tenth anniversary in public so why didn’t Harry and Meghan?

“Instead they relied on their spokespeople leaking out the fact they sent a message, making it look manipulated and contrived.”

Mr Dampier is the author of ‘Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in their own words’ which was published in 2018.

A similar sentiment was expressed by Angela Levin, author of a number of books on the Royal Family.

Addressing the Sun Online she said: “Harry and Meghan are of course still briefing the media.

“On the other hand if they hadn’t told the press about wishing them a happy anniversary everyone would have criticised them – which we’re not allowed to do because whatever they say and whatever they do can’t be questioned anymore.

“Their choice was to send it privately but everyone has to know how good they are by publicising it through their huge PR group of people.

“I think William and Kate don’t give a hoot about whether they wish them a happy anniversary or not but they need to talk about the things that really matter.

“They need to be talking to each other confidently and privately so they can trust each other and try and make amends over this huge chasm there between them.

“I don’t know what they said in the message but I doubt that it was full of love and comfort.”

To mark their anniversary William and Harry posted a 40-second video on their official Twitter and Instagram accounts.

It showed the couple in a number of rural locations playing with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

This was accompanied by a message reading: “Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary.

“We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family.”

The clip went viral receiving more than 10,000 retweets and 85,000 likes on Twitter alone.

Tensions within the Royal Family surged last month when Meghan and Harry gave an explosive interview to US talkshow legend Oprah Winfrey.

The Duchess alleged there were “concerns and conversations” within the family about Archie’s skin tone prior to his birth in 2018.

In response Prince William insisted the Royal Family is “very much not racist”.

William and Harry were united for the first time since the interview at Prince Philip’s funeral though Meghan, who is heavily pregnant, didn’t attend following medical advice.
