Meghan and Harry may ‘beat’ royals to form ‘close’ bond with Biden using Duke’s advantage

Meghan Markle and Harry: Expert on possible Biden relationship

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry could “beat” the Royal Family to creating a relationship with Joe Biden, commentators have claimed. The couple are not only already in the same country as the new US President, but also have an advantage due to the Duke of Sussex’s connections. HeirPod host Omid Scobie and ABC News foreign correspondent Maggie Rulli discussed what this could mean.

Mr Scobie told listeners: “I think it will be really interesting to see how this plays out as the year goes on.

“Controversially, the Sussexes could beat them to it.

“Because of course they might have their own relationship going on.

“We know that Harry is very close with the First Lady and President at the moment so we’ll see.”

Ms Rulli added: “At the end of the day you hope they can all work together because it’s for such a great cause and something that they all champion.

“So maybe the positive spin is that this will be like a cross-the-pond working relationship.”

The Queen reportedly sent a message to Mr Biden following his inauguration, and may even be able to meet him as soon as this summer.

The monarch is planning to host the President along with other world leaders ahead of the G7 Summit in Cornwall.

There have also been reports that the pair will have a one-on-one meeting to cement the special relationship.

Mr Scobie gave further insight into the royals reaching out: “Prince Charles has already sent a letter to President Biden.

“Not only to congratulate him but also to bring up something that they could collaboratively work on.”

He continued: “They would be a huge force for good, I think, when it comes to campaigning to governments and big businesses alike.

“Very recently we spoke about that Terra Carta that Charles launched.

“That’s aiming to persuade businesses to join the charter to help end climate change.

“I could imagine that Charles would definitely benefit from the support of someone like President Biden.

“So it will be very interesting to see how that plays out.”
