The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Thursday released a photo of them and their two young kids. Taken at the family’s Montecito home in the summer, it shows Harry holding two-year-old Archie on his lap and Meghan lifting baby Lilibet in the air. The “beautiful family photo”, as one royal fan called it, has led to uncountable comments on the Sussexes’ laid-back look and their choice of words on the festive card.
One Express.co.uk reader, with username mbrry, said: “I think it is a beautiful family photo.”
They added, however, a remark on the message that Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, added alongside the picture: “I am disappointed at the use of the Americanism ‘Happy Holidays’. It is Christmas that is being celebrated!”
Many others seemed to agree.
Chanel555 wrote: “Happy HOLIDAYS. Really.”

Meanwhile, user politicalwoman16, though complimenting the shot, criticised that the couple decided to list the organisations that benefited from the Sussexes’ donations throughout the last year.
The reader said: “Nice photo of the California lifestyle, but wish they could have just wished everyone a Happy Christmas and forego the list of charitable donations.
“It’s always about them.”
The Duke and Duchess’s message on the card read: “This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world.
“Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family.”
They added: “As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families – from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave.”
Some users stood up for the couple’s word choice, including SaraMay16, who said there is “nothing wrong with happy holidays” and that they were “being inclusive” or alemi12345, who pointed out “Holidays includes Christmas and New Year”.
However, not many backed Harry and Meghan’s decision to outline their donations.

User BintAshur12, echoing the opinion of plenty of other Express.co.uk readers, asked: “Why the need to state they have made donations on our behalf?”
One aspect very much welcomed among royal followers was to finally see the face of Lilibet, born in June this year.
User lizbette said: “It’s a lovely picture, well posed and it’s all about Lilibet…”
Six months after Prince Harry and Meghan brought her to the world, this marks a special moment – one captured by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, who claimed it had been an “honour” and “privilege” to once again work with the Sussexes.
He wrote on Instagram: “This is one of those rare and special projects, that one is fortunate enough to be a part of.
“To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honour.”
