Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will always be “number two”, a royal expert has warned. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future “trajectory” was compared to that of Harry’s great-aunt, Princess Margaret. Andrew Morton, author of the bestselling biography ‘Diana: Her True Story’, spoke to the Royally Obsessed podcast about the similarities.
He told listeners: “At the end of the day, Harry and Meghan were ancillary branches of the Royal Family.
“They were not central branches of the Royal Family.

“After Princess Margaret was denied marriage, it backfired and, more or less, ruined Margaret’s life.
“The Queen decided that from then on anyone someone in her family wanted to marry would be, more or less, acceptable.
“The Royal Family and the public now feel they’ve gone too far in the other direction.”
