Meghan Markle has reached out to her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, according to a royal source. A close source told Us Weekly that Meghan wants to help improve the Duchess of Cambridge’s public image by collaborating on a Netflix project. Us Weekly royal commentator Molly Mulshine said that offer would help combat the image that Kate “does not work hard enough”.

This comes amid speculation surrounding the pair’s relationship after Kate was not included in Meghan’s 40×40 initiative for her birthday, while Princess Eugenie was.

Us Weekly correspondent Joe Drake explained: “We had reporting this week that Kate and Meghan may be joining forces for a Netflix project.

“This is interesting on the heels of the 40×40 initiative that came out for Meghan’s 40th birthday – because Kate was not involved.

“She still could be, but she wasn’t on that initial list.”

A source told Us Weekly: “Meghan and Kate are actually getting along really well and have been in touch more often.

“Meghan has been talking to her about collaborating on a project for Netflix, a documentary that will spotlight Kate’s charity work and the huge impact she’s made with her philanthropy.”

Mr Drake added: “This could be good because some people don’t think she worked hard enough, and this could be the ultimate olive branch.”

Ms Mulshine responded: “People do want to know more about Kate. There is still a perception among people that she is not working because she is not super flashy about it.

“So it would be so helpful and a great move for them.

“I didn’t think it was a big deal that Kate wasn’t on the list for the 40×40 initiative.

Mr Drake agreed, adding: “It is too easy to pit them against each other.”

The source added: “Kate is very flattered, and it’s all very positive between them.”

They also claimed the pair are “closer than ever and working on their relationship for the sake of the family”.

In June it was revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge had “been reaching out to Meghan a lot” since the birth of Lilibet Diana.
