The Duke of Sussex recently appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Armchair Podcast and openly talked about life after the Royal Family and moving to the US with Meghan as well as their two-year-old son Archie Harrison Windsor.

Harry spoke about his mental health struggles and what it was like growing up as a royal to American actor Dax – while describing the relief he and Meghan share, now that they are away from the glare of the UK media.

He also discussed how much giving back to others made him feel better – especially when he was struggling and used one of his most successful projects – the Invictus Games Foundation as an example of his commitment to helping others.

When talking about family life and his wife, he described how being a royal became too much.

The lack of privacy ultimately became one of the main reasons as to why Meghan wanted to step down from her role so she could design a life that was better than the one she was living.

Harry said: “Meghan told me: ‘You don’t need to be a princess, you can create a life better than any princess’, that was coming from her lived experience.

“Meghan expected to have a private life and that was why she was shocked at being a royal.”

Even before the couple went public they went to great lengths to ensure no one would discover their relationship.

In an Amazon Prime Documentary titled: ‘Meghan Changing Traditions,’ entertainment reporter Ashley Pearson explains that the reason the couple did this was so they could avoid being “plagued” and “haunted” if their relationship were to fail.

She said: “Meghan and Harry very much have had a whirlwind romance.“When you are a royal trying to date a Hollywood actress – which is not unprecedented but is unusual – it’s very important to stay under the radar.

“The big dangers of this relationship is that there would be a host of publicity, a host of press… then the two would break up.

“And then both of them are plagued and haunted for the rest of their lives about this relationship which was never meant to be so for celebrities, it’s very important before they go public to make sure that it is really serious and that it is going to last.

“Because otherwise, it is just bad publicity and bad for everyone.”

Ms Pearson said that she also believed that both Harry and Meghan knew they were going to be together which is why they were cautious and extremely private as they got to know one another before announcing their relationship publicly.

She added: “I think they knew very early on that this was going to potentially be a lifelong romance but they were very cautious and they tried to keep their relationship under the radar as they got to know each other.”

Ms Pearson also claims that Harry made several secret visits to Meghan’s home in Toronto, Canada, and that nobody figured out who he was.

Meghan was secretly being brought over to the UK and staying with Harry in Kensington Palace, as the couple carried out most of their courting days behind closed doors.

It was here that, as Meghan was making roast chicken, Harry proposed to her.

In his conversation on the Armchair Podcast Harry also encouraged others to speak about their feelings as it creates “inner strength”.

Harry and Meghan moved to California last year and are expecting their first daughter in the summer.
