Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced earlier today they had agreed a partnership with Netflix. In response to the news Laurence Fox brutally mocked the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s future projects for Netflix claiming they will be a cure for insomnia and will lack authenticity.

Speaking on talkRADIO Mr Fox said: “I am just grateful that we have a cure for insomnia.

“I mean go for it, I would not begrudge anyone trying to get rich, just do not get rich and try and look virtuous at the same time.

“The problem is you cannot buy respect and you cannot buy authenticity.

“Those are things that you have to possess and work for and we will see if they come back to us in that way.”

He added: “I imagine Netflix have got such a broad slate of programmes that there will be an audience for Harry and Meghan woking off which is totally fine.

“At the end of the day I am just glad that as they promised us, they have taken this huge step back to just be quiet and work on themselves or whatever they are doing in their mansion.”

However, viewers took to Twitter to defend the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

One Twitter user said: “I do not understand the hate and mockery.

“At least you now know they are making money and will be able to pay back that renovation money and for their own security. Good for them.”

Another tweeted: “Funnily enough I would rather listen to them, wokeness and all, than to Laurence whining.”

A third said: “The hate is strong in this one. If this guy was as talented he’d have the Netflix deal. And would be to busy to entertain thoughts of the Sussex folk.”

Earlier today in a statement the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said regarding their partnership with Netflix: “Our lives, both independent of each other and as a couple, have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection.

“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.

“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”
