Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have dropped hints about potential names for their baby daughter whilst they were attending royal engagements in 2019. The couple responded to several name suggestions and may delight fans by choosing one of their recommendations. The new Baby Sussex is due to be born in the next few weeks.
Access reported: “Back when the couple were expecting Archie in 2019, they heard name suggestions from a group of children at a royal appearance in Birkenhead, England.”
“There, a little girl asked Meghan if she would call her child Amy, to which the Duchess said ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it'”
Access also revealed that Prince Harry had shown an interest in the name Lilly and had asked the girl’s mother “how she spelt her daughter’s name”.
During the couple’s royal tour of Australia in 2018, “the pair met a family with a baby named Harriet, Harry reportedly told the fan ‘That’s a great name'”
Other names that have become popular predictions at the bookies include traditional family names that are often featured in the Royal Family.
This includes Philippa, in memory of Prince Harry’s late grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip died on April 9 at the age of 99. Two of Harry’s royal cousins, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, named their newborn children in tribute to their grandfather.
Diana and Elizabeth are also popular choices, the former being a mark of respect to the Duke of Sussex’s mother and the latter a show of respect to the Queen.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were expecting their second child on Valentine’s Day.
They celebrated their happy news by releasing a black-and-white image of the Duke cradling his wife’s head in his lap whilst lying in their Californian garden.
The picture was taken by the couple’s long-term friend Misan Harriman who has recently been working with Vogue.
During their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, the pair revealed that they were expecting a baby daughter. The baby is due in the early summer and the Duchess is reportedly set to give birth within a matter of weeks.

With the birth of their daughter expected imminently, doubts have been cast as to whether Prince Harry will be able to attend the unveiling of his mother’s statue in London in July. He was due to attend the service at Kensington Palace on July 1 with his brother Prince William.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently parents to their son Archie Harrison, who recently celebrated his second birthday.
For his birthday, the Duke and Duchess appealed to the public to donate to the global vaccine alliance through their non-profit organisation Archewell. They succeeded in raising £3 million to provide vaccine relief to impoverished nations.
Since leaving the Royal Family, the Sussex family reside in Montecito, California.
