Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, are due to make their next online appearance on Tuesday as they take part in a special talk for Time Magazine. The Sussexes have been invited to co-host a Time100 Talks episode on the topic “Engineering a Better World.”

One of Meghan and Harry’s main focusses since moving away from their senior royal roles has been encouraging more positive use of social media.

The couple hope to establish themselves as an authority on this issue which is expected to be a key focus of their new non-profit organisation Archewell.

A Time Magazine spokesman described the virtual engagement as follows: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will host a specially curated edition of TIME100 Talks, TIME’s series of virtual conversations that convenes extraordinary leaders from every field to spotlight solutions and encourage action.

“Themed around the topic of ‘Engineering a Better World,’ the special episode of TIME100 Talks reflects The Duke and Duchess’ focus on building online communities that are trustworthy, safer, and more equitable—and what that means for supporting and accelerating progress on critical issues like gender equity, racial justice, and climate change.”

Meghan and Harry’s Time100 talk will air at 6pm BST (1pm ET) on October 20.

Last month Meghan and Harry ruffled some feathers among royal traditionalist by speaking out about the upcoming US elections in a video announcing Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2020 list.

One royal commentator has claimed the couple’s next appearance could also see them touch on controversial topics.

Expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: “This is an opportunity for them to promote racial justice, gender equality and climate change, issues which are also likely to be promoted by their non-profit foundation Archewell.

“The dangers of social media and internet addiction, a very pertinent subject, will be its central theme.

“It will be interesting to see whether any of their conversations are controversial.”
