Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new brand ‘catastrophic’ for Prince William and Kate

Meghan Markle and Harry have ‘emerged winners’ says expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could put the future of the Royal Family in jeopardy, a royal expert has claimed. Biographer Duncan Larcombe has suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ recent commercial signings could cause significant problems for other senior royals. He even questioned the couple’s true motives behind signing the lucrative contracts.

Speaking on True Royalty TV’s weekly programme The Royal Beat, Mr Larcombe suggested the public may begin to take more interest in the Sussexes’ commercial ventures than the traditional work of the Royal Family.

He said: “A year ago they [Harry and Meghan] were saying they want privacy and to bring their child up in peace – Codswallop!

“We now know what it is. The evidence is there.

“It was the biggest royal sellout in the history of the family.

“What Harry and Meghan have done over the past 12 months is sow seeds which will spell potential catastrophe to the Royal Family.

“When 50 million people are watching Harry’s chat about organic yoghurt or whatever it is that he wants to promote, and 5,000 people are watching his brother – Prince William, the future King – do a royal engagement, opening a supermarket in Hemel Hempstead or whatever – that is when it becomes a problem.”

Meghan and Harry officially stood down as senior members of the Royal Family last March, just over two months after they announced they had decided to leave.

They have since moved to Santa Barbara, California, with their 20-month-old son Archie.

As they forge their new lives together, the couple have secured multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify.

The Sussexes secured the Netflix deal last September, where the pair will make a number of documentaries, feature films and children’s programmes.

The Spotify deal was only announced last month and has already seen the couple air one 30-minute podcast.

During the episode, Meghan and Harry chat with a number of prominent guests about their experiences of 2020.

Singer Sir Elton John, presenter James Corden, author Matt Haig and tennis player Naomi Osaka are among those to feature on the programme.

The couple’s son Archie also appeared, ending the episode by wishing listeners a happy new year.

Speaking about this first episode, Mr Larcombe featuring Archie was a form of “clickbait” to draw in listeners.

He said: “Because there is money involved, it isn’t a charitable thing.

“What a surprise [that] more family silver is out for sale – let’s use Archie as clickbait.

“Maybe Harry is going to be the ‘Billion heir royal’”.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl, who also appeared on the show, added: “Meghan and Harry have the potential to become a billion-dollar brand.”
