Meghan Markle’s long-awaited podcast has been released on Spotify.
The Duchess of Sussex sat down with tennis superstar Serena Williams for the first episode of Archetypes.
Entitled ‘The Misconception of Ambition’, Meghan talks to her close friend about the double standards women face when they are labelled ‘ambitious’.
Meghan and the seven-time Wimbledon champion also shared personal stories about the struggles they felt as new mothers.
Serena gave birth to her first child in 2017, a few years before Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed Archie.
The conversation forms part of a series that promises to investigate the ‘labels’ holding women back.
A £19 million deal had been struck between the streaming giant and the duchess back in November 2020.
But aside from a ‘holiday special’ featuring Sir Elton John and James Corden, royal fans had to wait almost two years for the first hour-long podcast to come out.
In January, Harry and Meghan called on Spotify to address ‘the all too real consequences of Covid-19 misinformation’ following a media storm around Joe Rogan’s controversial podcast.
Although the Sussexes never specifically mentioned Rogan in their statement, it came after Neil Young and Joni Mitchell asked for their music to be removed from the service due its affiliation with the American commentator.
Rogan was accused of using his popular podcast to spread false details about the Covid vaccine.
The Joe Rogan Experience was Spotify’s most popular series last year, with an estimated 11 million listeners per episode.
