Meghan Markle shocked viewers of America’s Got Talent on Wednesday by making a surprise appearance to cheer on contestant Archie Williams. While sending the 59-year-old a good luck message by video-call, royal fans were given a glimpse of her new home, which included several books that shine a light on the Duchess’ personality.

Meghan appeared in a brief video on the popular talent show, after being moved by Archie’s story, who shares the same name as her 16-month-old son.

The singer was wrongly convicted for a crime he didn’t commit and served 37 years in prison as a result.

He was finally freed in March 2019 after the Innocence Project took up his case.

Meghan said she and husband Prince Harry were in his corner and were rooting for him to win the competition.

But as well as being moved by Meghan’s generosity in wishing Archie luck, royal fans were grateful to have a glimpse into the Sussexes new home.

As the Duchess sat on a beige sofa, wearing leather trousers and a brown blouse, a number of books could be seen on a table behind her.

Several of the books have since been identified by eagle-eyed fans and one of the novels appear to reveal one of Meghan’s key personality traits.

One of the largest books on the table is Charles Bukowski’s novel Women, a semi-autobiographical book about the author’s relationships with different women.

Reviews say the book is not for people who get easily offended but allows people to “go through the day to day foulness of a foul man’s life”.

As a result, it could be inferred Meghan is thick-skinned, confident and open to criticism.

Other books on show include Humans of New York, a collection of street portraits showing the everyday lives of people living in the Big Apple, Anne Leibotvitz’s A Photographer’s Life and interior design hardback Wood and Iron Industrial Interiors.

Another of the books within the pile includes Netflix film The Black Godfather, which tells the story of African-American music executive Clarence Avant.

He is known as “the godfather of black music” and is very famous in the music industry.

The book could be seen as a subtle nod to their new multi-million pound deal signed they signed with Netflix earlier this month.

Books weren’t the only thing visible in the video though, as fans got a glimpse of Meghan and Harry’s home interiors.

A large vase of green hydrangeas could be seen in the left-hand corner, alongside a £47 Diptyque Tuberuse candle.

The scent is described as “sensual, generous and luscious”.

Several other large cathedral candles can also be seen in the shot, stood on opulent candlesticks.

The walls are also adorned with three large pieces of monochrome artwork and a number of decorative bowls.
