The Duchess of Sussex is to publish a children’s book next month titled “The Bench” about the relationship between a father and son based on her husband Prince Harry and the couple’s child Archie. Meghan, 39, said the idea came about after she wrote a poem for her husband on Father’s Day. The story is told on 40 pages featuring colourful paintings depicting a father’s bond with his young son.

Glenn Gratton, a photographer who regularly snaps household names, said Meghan was following an “organic” and “down to earth theme” with the book.

He drew comparisons between the book and the pregnancy shots the Sussexes released this spring to announce they are expecting their second child.

He suggested Meghan may be behind the nature-inspired theme which Californians are known to favour.

Mr Gratton told The Mirror: “She’s living a very beautiful, very organic, lovely lifestyle.

“Meghan is building a beautiful brand and the Americans absolutely adore her.

“I think it’s going very well for her over there – she’s taking very nice pictures.”

He added: “I think she would have had the final say and chosen the cover and the images – she’s very in control of her brand.”

Earlier this year Meghan and Harry, 36, released adorable family photos to announce their baby news.

The black-and-white snaps were taken in the couple’s garden of their £11 million Montecito mansion which they purchased last year.

In their interview with Oprah Winfrey the couple revealed they are having a girl and she is due in “the summertime”.
Meghan’s book is due to be released on June 8.

In a statement, the duchess said she worked closely with artist Christian Robinson to bring the story to life on the pages.

She said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born.”

“That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the make-up, as much as it does with mine.”

One page shows a mother resembling Meghan looking out the window to see a father playing with his young son.

The dad wears an army camo uniform and has red hair – making it clear to readers that the image was based on a depiction of the Sussex family.

The story is also available as an e-book, with the duchess narrating the tale for listeners.
