Scheduled to speak at the Global Citizen Live event taking place in Central Park and all over the world this weekend, Harry and Meghan arrived in New York City on Wednesday. The couple, who chose to step away from royal duties, broke the internet nonetheless with their first appearance as just Harry and Meghan on Thursday at the One World Trade Centre.
Anyone from fashion magazines, royal enthusiasts to body language specialists dissected all the images taken by professionals and passersby.
But even eagle-eyed fans of the couple might not have recognized the very chic accessories that the Duchess was wearing.
As, perhaps, a nice symbol of her past royal life, Meghan chose to wear the exact same earrings she wore in 2018 for her wedding celebrated in Windsor castle.
The stud earrings, made of white gold and diamonds by Cartier, are one of the Duchess’ favourites.
Before wearing them for her big day, she was photographed wearing them in April 2018 during an Invictus Games reception and then in 2019 for Archie’s Christening.
The Galanterie de Cartier studs cost the couple an eye-watering $15,000 (£10,930), according to Us Weekly.
The royal family is used to working with and wearing Cartier for high profile events and casual wear.
On her wedding day, Kate Middleton wore a Cartier tiara while Princess Diana used to wear a Cartier Tank watch — which Meghan also owns.

As guests of the charity Global Citizens, Harry and Meghan hope to use their platform to raise awareness on global vaccine equity.
Last May, Prince Harry collaborated with the program and delivered a speech at the VAX Live concerts, between performances by Jennifer Lopez and the Foo Fighters.
“The vaccine must be distributed to everyone everywhere, he said.
“We cannot rest or truly recover until there is a fair distribution to every corner of the world.

“The virus does not respect borders and access to the vaccine cannot be determined by geography.
“It must be accepted as a basic right for all and that is our starting point.
“None of us should be comfortable thinking that we could be fine when so many others are suffering,” Harry continued.
