Prior to joining the Royal Family, Meghan was best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the US legal drama Suits. She was set-up with Prince Harry on a “blind date” in 2016, which led to their marriage two years later. Ahead of their May 2018 nuptials, Meghan quit the TV show, which she had starred on for six years. During her time as an actress, the star gave a number of interviews to promote Suits and in one had to contend with unusual comments from a host.

The cringeworthy moments happened during a chat with The Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson, who jokingly stroked her arm before he commented on her being hairless.

Meghan told the Scottish comedian that she had grown-up in Los Angeles and spent a lot of time on TV sets because her father Thomas Markle was a director of photography.

She then joked about the scarcity of people “born and raised” who currently live in the South California city, which is known for those trying to make it in Hollywood.

The future royal quipped: “Yes, I’m one of the five. You can pinch me, I’m real!”

Mr Ferguson leaned across to touch her bicep a number of times as he quipped: “Wow, yeah!”

The TV star joked in 2013 that he “wanted to do it again” after Meghan pulled away as he tried to grab her arm.

He then commented: “What a strangely hairless body you have!”

The audience laughed hysterically at his comment – a moment that some described as “creepy” online, with others maintaining it was part of his onscreen “silliness”.

Mr Ferguson continued: “Oh you’re quite the dolphin, aren’t you? I tell you, you’re absolutely hair-free.”

Meghan seemed to be shocked by his remarks and shut down a joke that she must be a competitive swimmer.

She added: “I am not but if I were to be one, I think I would get some speed there.”

Mr Ferguson continued to joke: “That’s what you need to do if you’re a competitive swimmer, shave yourself entirely.”

In an earlier part of the show, the host told Meghan that she looked “sensational” and later let out a laugh when she revealed her childhood nickname was “Nutmeg”.

Mr Ferguson ended their interview with an “awkward pause” scene, where both the stars pretended to look bored and uncomfortable as they sat beside each other.
