Meghan Markle and Prince Harry accused an unnamed member of the royal family – not the Queen or Philip – of raising concerns about how dark their son Archie’s skin tone would be before he was born. The couple’s friend Gayle King told CBS This Morning that “Meghan has documents to back up everything” she said during the interview with Oprah Winfrey. But royal commentator Richard Eden said the fact the Sussexes are doing this is “threatening”.

Speaking to Palace Confidential on MailPlus, Mr Eden said: “Another quite sinister comment from Gayle King was that Meghan has documents to prove everything that she said in the Oprah interview.

“That was verging on threatening really.

“With that in mind, if I was Charles or William, I would be very wary of speaking to them.

“Are they recording their calls?

“It certainly wouldn’t surprise me with the detail that they’re giving.

“Even if they’re not recording, the fact they’re going straight to friends.

“To be honest, if I was Charles or William, I wouldn’t speak to her again until we can meet in person.”

Ms King said she had called the Sussexes and was told Harry had spoken to his father, the Prince of Wales, and brother the Duke of Cambridge – but no-one has yet spoken to Meghan.

She suggested that despite the conversations not bearing fruit, the Sussexes were “glad” dialogue had started.

After the Sussexes bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Queen said in a statement that the issues raised, including race, would be “addressed by the family privately”.
