The former Suits actress and Prince Harry embarked on a whirlwind romance after meeting on a blind date in early July 2016. Within a month, Harry invited Meghan to join him on a trip to Africa. Harry would later tell journalists the visit gave the couple an opportunity to get to know each other properly.

After four months of quiet dating, Harry officially confirmed his relationship with Meghan in a statement on November 8, 2016.

Meghan was introduced to both Prince Charles and William as the relationship blossomed.

Aware that members of Harry’s family could be suspicious of her motives, the Duchess of Sussex went to great lengths to ensure she said all the right things.

Royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand described Meghan’s approach to her first meeting with William in their book ‘Finding Freedom’.

They wrote: “She was self-aware enough to understand that the brothers were wary of women who were more interested in their titles than their wellbeing.

“Because of this, she had thought the entire meeting through, she told a friend.”

A confidante of Meghan’s told them “she prepared herself for a grilling.”

The authors said William and Meghan got “along so well” after that first meeting.

However, William would soon begin to harbour growing suspicions about Meghan and her motives, it is claimed.
