Meghan’s moving reason for wanting her children to bond with Charles

Meghan Markle is desperate for her kids to have a relationship with King Charles as she fears Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet won’t form bonds with her own father, a source has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly keen to lower the temperature with the Royal Family after it was announced that she will not attend the Coronation on May 6.

Prince Harry is expected to show his face at the historic event, but Meghan will likely stay behind in their home in Montecito, California, to look after the kids.

The Duchess is reportedly hoping this won’t damage the relationship between Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet and their grandfather, King Charles III.

According to a royal source who spoke to GB News, Meghan wants her kids to bond with at least one of their paternal grandparents given she is estranged from her own father, Thomas Markle, who they are unlikely to ever get know.

The source said: “Meghan doesn’t want any more rifts. She wants her children to know their grandfather, Charles, particularly when they are not going to know their other grandfather.

“She does hope they will meet and hopes her decision will be seen as an unselfish one, as it was best to keep the attention on His Majesty.”

Meanwhile, the King is reportedly “very disappointed” that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will not be present in Westminster Abbey on May 6. Prince Archie will also be turning four-years-old on that day.

A source told The Sun: “The King is happy that Harry, his son, who he calls his ‘darling boy’ will be at the Abbey.

“He wanted him there. It is sad, he is very disappointed that he won’t see Meghan or his grandchildren but understands the situation.”

But Archie and Lillibet were reportedly not formally invited to the Coronation as Palace aides were waiting for confirmation that they would make the trip before factoring them into plans.

Meghan has also previously said that King Charles is “very important” to her, particularly given her relationship with her own father.

The Duchess of Sussex said she even asked Charles to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

In the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, the Duchess revealed: “Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him, I’ve lost my dad in this.

“So him as my father-in-law is very important to me. So I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said ‘yes.'”

The Duke of Sussex is also reportedly keen to mend the relationship with his father, which is thought to have soured following the series of bombshell allegations he dropped about the royals in his memoir, Spare.

A close friend of the Sussexes claimed there had been “positive conversations” Harry and his father before it was announced that he would attend the Coronation.

A source told The Telegraph: “It is about showing up, showing support and being there for his father. It was a very personal decision, not a PR one.”
