Footage on social media shows how Insulate Britain activists, attempting to block traffic lights at a junction in southeast London, were rammed down by an enraged driver fed up during rush hour. The demonstrators shut down traffic at the Blackwall Tunnell, one of the busiest access points to central London.
The group can be seen waiting for the lights to turn red on a busy Monday morning near the Blackwall Tunnel before making their move.
Drivers appear to realise what is happening as the group begins to take a seat in front of lines of traffic.
One demonstrator then appears to approach a motorcyclist gesturing and pointing at them as they try to make a case for their protest.
But moments later an enraged van driver appears to hit breaking point as he makes a break for it.
The driver then tries to smash his way through the human shield in a shocking moment of road rage.
In doing so he appears to knock into one determined protester who refuses to get out the way of the van’s path.
The vehicle appears to then smash into a traffic light as he frantically tries to break through the barrier.
The driver can then be seen frantically reversing before descending into an argument with members of the climate change group.
