Mum’s horror as daughter asked: ‘What’s this?’ while on playground slide

A mum has slammed “disgusting” and “evil” behaviour after smashed glass was left on a slide, which could have caused her young daughter serious harm. Rebekah Jamieson took her daughter to a park after school in Huyton, Merseyside, when the child noticed sticky brown liquid and shattered green glass all down the slide.

She told the Liverpool Echo it was a “deliberate act” and added: “As she was already on the stairs, I told her to wait a minute in case it was slippery.

“I had no gloves or wipes with me, but as she got to the top she shouted: ‘What’s this?’ I could see there was broken glass all down the bottom, if she’d have come down she’d have ripped herself to bits. There are times she’s gone flying down that slide without giving it a second thought.”

She added: “If it was an accident fair enough, but clearly someone has poured that down and smashed a bottle on a child’s slide in a children’s park. That’s not just naughty, it’s evil.”

She described it as “unhinged” behaviour from either adults or children.

Ms Jamieson attempted to remove the glass with her shoe before taking her daughter home and contacting the council which responded “immediately.”

She added: “I had an email from them saying it had been shared with the relevant teams and actioned immediately, it was pretty much straight away and I was happy with that.”

In the hope of raising awareness among other parents, Ms Jamieson shared a post on social media stating it was important to “protect as many as possible”.
