Newborn baby dies at just 13 days old becoming UK's youngest coronavirus victim

A 13-day-old baby has become the youngest person to die from coronavirus in the UK, NHS England has confirmed.

It was stated today that a further 62 poeple have died with Covid-19 in hospitals in England, with the patients aged between 13 days and 96 years old.

Three of those patients, including the newborn, had no underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed of their dreaths, the NHS said.

Wales also recorded a further five deaths, Scotland had two, and Northern Ireland none. Overall, it is the lowest increase on a Thursday since March 19, when 43 deaths were recorded.

The number of people who have died with coronavirus in hospitals now stands at 28,175. A spokesperson for NHS England said 25 records have also been removed from the total after they were reported twice in error.

The official death toll, which includes people who died in care homes or the wider community, stands at over 42,000. However, data based on death certificates mentioning Covid-19 shows the true count is likely more than 53,000, including suspected cases.
