A small plane has crashed in a private ranch in Florida, leaving one person dead and another injured.
The plane crashed in Palm City earlier today and local police confirmed the injured person was a bystander who tried to rescue the pilot.
Roads surrounding the crash site, off SW 48th Terrace, have been closed as emergency services attend the scene.
The reason for the crash, the condition of the injured person, and the identity of the pilot are not yet known, The Mirror reports.
Pictures taken at the scene show the wreck of the plane covered in ashes, with thick smoke rising from the wreck.
Firefighters were called to the scene to put out the fire after the plane ‘exploded into a fireball’.
The plane is almost unrecognisable as it has shattered into multiple pieces.
A statement from the Martin County sheriff’s office shared on social media said: ‘We and Martin County Fire and Rescue are on scene of a small plane crash inside a private ranch.
‘One person is confirmed to be deceased, a bystander who attempted to help the trapped pilot did sustain injuries.
‘Roads near the scene have been temporarily blocked off so first responders can access the scene.’
Locals and neighbours responded to the incident, with Richard South sharing: ‘We’re at the house next door. Thank you to all of the emergency services who were there within minutes.’
Murphy Bridget commented: ‘We live a couple roads away and saw the wreckage. So sad! Prayers to all!’
