A pensioner was left with a black eye and cuts on her face after she was allegedly punched by a runner while walking along a seafront.
The woman, in her 70s, was ‘extremely shaken up’ after the shocking incident at Bournemouth beach in Dorset on December 16.
She told police she first noticed two male runners and a ‘pitbull style’ dog pass her from behind at around 9.30am.
The dog began barking at the woman when the runners came back towards her a short while later.
When she told the men the dog should be on a lead, one of them is said to have hit her in the face. Thankfully, she did not require hospital treatment.
Police have released CCTV stills of the incident as they look to identify the two runners.
The two men are described as in their mid to late 20s, approximately 6ft tall and of athletic build with short straight black hair.
The first man was wearing black running bottoms and a black long sleeved top with white stripes on it. The second man was wearing all black clothing.
The dog is described as similar to a pitbull terrier with a grey, short-haired, shiny coat and of medium size with short legs and a snub nose.
PC Sara Johnson of Dorset Police said: ‘This incident left the victim extremely shaken up and I am doing all that I can to identify the two male runners.
‘I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police to please get in touch.
‘I am also keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the two men and their dog from the CCTV image or the descriptions given.’
