Randox will charge customers flying with partner airlines £60 for the tests, which are the ones where you take swabs from your throat and nose and get the results in a few days. Typically they cost £120. The partner airlines have not been identified, but sources say they will be major carriers and the discount will be available before the summer.
Last week’s Government announcement that travellers returning to the UK will have to take PCR tests was met with an angry response from the travel industry.
They wanted people arriving from low-risk countries to be able to take rapid lateral flow device tests, which are cheaper and give results in 30 minutes.
Randox managing director Dr Peter FitzGerald said: “We are committed to effective and economical testing.” Israel will welcome vaccinated UK holidaymakers from May 23.
“Travellers will also be required to take a PCR test before their flight.
