Plea to thief who stole locket with baby's ashes from mum's car

A locket containing the ashes of a baby has been stolen from the grieving mother’s car in central London.

A desperate plea has been made to retrieve the sentimental pendant, which was taken from a BMW in Regents Park last Tuesday, June 21.

The locket was among a number of items, including camera equipment, that went missing between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

The victim parked her car between Chester Road and The Outer Circle while attending an event in Marylebone Green.

The Metropolitan Police has now launched an appeal to find the locket.

Anyone in the area at the time who may have spotted someone behaving suspiciously by the parked cars is asked to come forward.

Issuing a direct plea to the person responsible, PC Andy Goodyer said: ‘The pendant/locket that you took may appear insignificant but it contains the ashes of the victim’s baby.

‘Please do the right thing so that we can return this to her.

‘We have today issued an image of similar item of jewellery. If you have been offered one for sale in the past week, please get in touch.’

Anyone who can help is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD1571/30Jun.

The pendant can be posted to police at the following address: FAO PC Goodyer, The Old Police House, Hyde Park, London W2 2UH.
