Police swarm Heathrow Airport after passengers evacuated from Terminal 2

Passengers were evacuated from Heathrow Terminal 2 this morning over a potential bomb scare.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called over at 10.47am to reports of an unattended bag.

A spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘The area has been evacuated as a precaution and the item will be assessed by specialist officers.’

Transport for London said the station for Terminals 2 and 3 was closed while staff ‘help the police respond to a security alert’.

Pictures and video on social media showed large crowds of people standing around outside the airport, unsure of what was going on.

Photos also show several police vehicles parked up outside the terminal.
