A quiet estate of Manchester has been swarmed by police following unconfirmed reports of gunshots in the area.

Emergency services have cordoned off part of Overdale, in Swinton.

The Manchester Evening News (MEN) report that armed police have blocked off a section of the road and are not allowing people to pass.

Local residents have also claimed there is a police helicopter circling overheard.

Express.co.uk has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.

A witness to the scene said they had seen police “guarding” a property.

They said: “I saw police stood in a doorway of a property.

“Police guarding the outside of one house and there are detectives going inside.”
