The young victim was found unconscious and lying on the pavement by a member of the public yesterday afternoon. Police say she was assaulted as she jogged along a rural road in Elveden, Suffolk, between noon and 1pm.

The woman needed treatment in hospital and has since been discharged, Suffolk Live reports.

A police cordon remains in place on London Road – the old A11 – in the sleepy village near Thetford.

The suspect, who left the scene in an unknown direction, is described as male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown stubble.

He was heard speaking with an English accent and was wearing a black puffa jacket with the hood up. He had a bike with him.

Specialist trained officers are working with the victim, Suffolk Police said.

Detectives would like to hear from any witnesses who were in the area, particularly between the slip road junction with the A11 southbound and the Elveden Road junction, either walking or cycling between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday, or any motorists that passed through and have a dashcam fitted in their vehicle.

If you have any information that could help enquiries, please contact Suffolk Police quoting the reference number 37/63186/21.
