Prince Harry’s most recent video call with Invictus Games athletes revealed how the Sussexes are revamping their new pad. The royal couple reportedly bought the mansion in Santa Barbara as they put down roots in the US.

During Prince Harry’s surprise call, which was posted on the Invictus Games’ Instagram account, two large square dark navy and light grey swatches on the wall can be seen behind the royal’s shoulder.

It seems as though the Sussexes are redecorating their new home by deciding which new paint to colour the rooms.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purchased a $14,650,000 mansion in Montecito which has nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and a two-bedroom guest house, according to Page Six.

The home also has a large lot of land that contains rose gardens, century-old olive trees, tennis courts, a tea house, a swimming pool, and a children’s cottage.

A source said: “It has been a very special time for them as a couple and as a family—to have complete privacy for six weeks since they moved in.

“They intend to put down their roots in this house and the quiet community, which has considerable privacy.

“This is where they want to bring Archie up, where they hope he can have as normal a life as possible.”

Before moving into their new mansion, the Sussexes were living in Tyler Perry’s huge Beverly Hills Tuscan-style villa.

The source added: “While it was a nice favour to them at a very difficult time, Tyler Perry’s house with 18 bedrooms isn’t Harry’s style.

“Yes, he grew up in royalty and the halls of Buckingham Palace, but he prefers more intimate homes with character.”

The Sussexes decided to step down as senior royals earlier this year.

They originally planned to split their time evenly between the UK and North America.

But since March the couple have been living in the US with their son Archie.

The Duchess’ mum, Doria Ragland, has reportedly moved in with the Sussexes during the coronavirus pandemic to help take care of Archie.

The video, which revealed the Sussexes home redecorating, saw Prince Harry speak to former Invictus Games competitors as part of a virtual call.

Prince Harry gave a surprise appearance in the virtual call to talk to the athletes about the completion of their At Home Superhero Tri series.

He said: “With lockdown and everything else that’s been going on with the Hague being postponed as well, surely this was an amazing opportunity for you guys to come together.

“Not only to do the physical side, which is improving mental fitness but to be together as a team doing something like this.

“And having a goal and a purpose and to some extent a distraction from the day to day life.”

The Invictus Games was originally planned to take place in May but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He added: “It’s not just being part of the Invictus Games and on a global stage, it is the simplest of things, but the things that anyone can do.

“Grab a bike, grab a machine, go for a walk, go for a run, whatever it is.”
