This week, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have appeared at a joint engagement – their first from their new home in Santa Barbara. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in a Zoom call with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to discuss using digital technologies as a force for good. This is the first time the couple have appeared together from their new home.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed they had relocated from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, slightly upstate on the coast of California in July.

The spokesperson said: “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbours, as well as for them as a family.”

Despite many reports claiming Meghan is enjoying life in California, many fans of the couple are saddened by their relocation and decision to step down as senior members of the Royal Family.

Harry used to be the most popular royal after the Queen, and his royal wedding to the former Suits actress in 2018 became the most-watched television event of the year.

As many wonder whether they will ever return to the UK, unearthed reports shed light on Prince Harry’s life before Meghan.

According to a throwback report by The Sun, in 2009, the Duke of Sussex made a startling admission on a night when he was out drinking with his army mates.

An onlooker said Harry’s friends were “gobsmacked” when he responded to their good-natured teasing about his vivid red locks by blurting out: “It’s been two years since I washed my hair!”

The Prince had been celebrating completing phase one of his Army Air Corps training with more than a dozen colleagues at a pub in Sleaford, north east England.

The Prince further shocked patrons when he asked friends to buy him a drink because he was short of money.

A customer told the publication: “It was hilarious.

“Here’s a bloke who is royalty and he’s feeling the pinch.

“He told his friends: ‘I have only brought £20 with me. That’s all I’ve got!’

“It was all in good fun and Harry took it on the chin.”

Harry and his friends arrived at the pub at around 6pm and stayed until closing time.

At the time, both him and his brother Prince William were learning to fly helicopters.

William was training to be a search and rescue pilot, while Harry hoped to return to Afghanistan, where he served in December 2007.
