Prince Harry fighting ‘losing battle’ with military pleas as role will ‘never be the same’

Prince Harry: Expert says royal may be fighting ‘losing battle’

Prince Harry’s action against claims that he has snubbed the military community is a “losing battle”, royal commentators have warned. This comes after the Duke of Sussex won an apology and “substantial damages” from the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline for accusing him of turning his back on the British Armed Forces. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed why his “involvement” would “never be the same” anyway.

Ms Bowie told listeners: “Think about this big picture though.

“Harry was forced to step down from his military posts when they backed away from their roles as senior royals.

“That’s not going to change even though he is so upset.

“We do know that anything about the military will strike a chord for Harry.”

She continued: “If it’s not reported correctly or unbiasedly then it does seem to anger him.

“I just think that it’s a little bit of losing battle in a kind of way.

“His official involvement, at least in the capacity he was in, is never going to be the same.

“He just doesn’t have those posts anymore, unless they change it.”

Ms Fiorito added: “There’s so much talk that that one-year review is never going to happen.

“But if that’s something that they really wanted to work out, maybe they could.”

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their senior roles, it was agreed that the terms of their exit would be reviewed with the Palace in a year.

This is expected to take place soon in the springtime.

As part of that deal, Harry was indeed forced to give up three official military appointments.

These were Captain-General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Force Commandant of the Royal Air Force Base Honington and Honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Commands’ Small Ships and Diving.

It was reported that this was the toughest loss for the royal to swallow.

Currently no one has filled the positions in his absence.
