The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recalled their wedding day in the first episode of the second volume of Harry & Meghan. Speaking of his special day, celebrated on May 19 2018 at Windsor’s St George’s Chapel, Harry claimed there was an “expectation”.

Without explaining who was harbouring this expectation, the royal said: “There was an expectation, right? Diana’s boy. There was an expectation to have a public wedding.”

Referring to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ wedding, which took place at Westminster Abbey in April 2011, he continued: “It was like, ‘Mission complete with William.

“‘Now, let’s see if this goes the distance with Harry and then we can actually go, Job done’.”

Meghan also spoke about her wedding day and how stunned she was to see thousands of people lined up in the streets of Windsor to catch a glimpse of the royal bride.

She said: “So I knew that when I got to the actual castle… How funny is that to say? ‘When I got to the castle for my wedding.’

“Um, that there’d be tons of people. What I didn’t know was people would be lining both sides of the street.

“I mean, this was a 15-minute drive. Me and my mom were like, ‘What is going on? Look at all these people!'”
