Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been caught up in a new controversy following statements made by the pair in a video call. Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle insisted the Commonwealth needed to look at its past before looking to the future in a video call with young leaders from the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. The pair agreed some uncomfortable conversations needed to be had about the Commonwealth’s colonial past.
However, royal commentator Dan Wootton argued these comments were hard to stomach from Prince Harry.
During his show on TalkRadio, Mr Wootton raised the point that the former working royal also had made some disagreeable mistakes in his youth.
Mr Wootton said: “Let us just remember that in 2005, this was the same Prince Harry that was forced to apologise after the Sun pictured him dressed in a Nazi uniform at a fancy dress party
“One year later, he called a fellow Sandhurst cadet our little P-word friend.”

Mr Wootton said an individual can move on from the mistakes of their past.
However, he expressed why he was so frustrated about Prince Harry’s latest comments.
Mr Wootton said: “Of course it is possible to move on from such racism.
“But it is hard to stomach Prince Harry try to lecture, his grandmother, the Queen, his family and the institution he is part of before dealing with his own past.”
Mr Wootton also reflected on Prince Harry’s current relationship with his family following his decision to step down as a working royal.
He said: “It is such a shame.
“Harry is having very limited conversations with his family right now, I would say.
“Very limited from everything I have heard, Prince Harry and Prince William do not get on anymore and that is a tragedy.”

Despite the royal expert’s frustration at the comments directed at the Queen and the Commonwealth, Mr Wootton claimed Harry has been able to maintain a good relationship with the Queen.
He said: “I think Harry can still pick up the phone and see how the Queen is, actually.
“The one relationship that hasn’t been destroyed in all of this, is the personal relationship between Prince Harry and the Queen.”
