Harry, 37, and his wife Meghan Markle, 40, famously stepped down from their roles as members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in the US with their two children Archie and Lilibet. Their decision came two years ago when they announced their decision to become financially independent, while still supporting the Queen. This year, the monarch will celebrate an historic 70 years on the throne with her Platinum Jubilee in June.

Harry, her grandson, was one of the key royals involved in the celebrations for her Diamond Jubilee a decade ago.

To mark Her Majesty’s 60-year anniversary he flew to Jamaica where he raced against Usain Bolt.

It was here that the fastest man in the world claimed Harry “cheated” after a false start during the pair’s friendly contest at the University of the West Indies stadium in Kingston.

The sprinter said: “He cheated, I said we would have a rematch in London 2012 and Harry said, ‘I’m busy’.”

He added: “He’s cool, very down to earth. When you meet dignitaries you think it will be difficult.

“But he just wanted to laugh – it was an honour and a pleasure to meet him.

“I’m still the fastest man in the world so he has a long way to go.”

Harry later threw down the gauntlet to the Jamaican athlete as he wished him happy birthday in 2016.

The occasion was extra special for Bolt, who had just won his ninth Olympic gold medal in Rio.

In a tweet Harry said: “Congratulations Usain Bolt – now you’re officially the greatest you might be ready for a re-run! Happy 30th.”

Bolt accepted the royal’s offer of another race during an event in the US the following year.

He told HELLO! magazine: “I’m ready! I’m ready because he got away last time.

“There was a lot written saying I got beaten, so I can’t live that down.”

He added: “He cheated! They said, ‘On your mark, [get] set’ and he just ran off.”

The sprinter was attending the G.H. Mumm Champagne Kentucky Derby celebration in New York City.

The previous summer, Harry had started dating Meghan, who was a star of US legal drama, ‘Suits’, at the time.

Bolt also offered his thoughts on the couple’s relationship, appearing to give Harry his backing.

He said: “I think everybody is happy because he’s always the wild one of the Royal Family, but he’s really cool.

“I’m sorry I didn’t get to party with him before. She’s definitely a nice girl.”

It has not yet been announced whether senior royals will go on foreign tours for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year.

Buckingham Palace has released some details of the celebrations, however, including a London concert with some of the world’s biggest entertainment stars, and a competition to create a new pudding.
