Prince Harry landed in the UK ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral last week, as the Royal Family prepared to honour their late patriarch. The Firm laid him to rest on Saturday in a toned-down ceremony led by Queen Elizabeth II, with every member present. The Duke of Sussex’s presence didn’t go unnoticed, and he may extend his stay in the UK to offer continued support.

When will Prince Harry return to the US?

Prince Harry has established a permanent residence in California with his wife and young son, Archie-Harrison Mountbatten Windsor.

Their move marked a clear break with the rest of the royals, and until recently, there was no indication they would ever return.

The Prince arrived alone, as the pregnant Duchess of Sussex’s condition prevented her travelling alongside him, and people believed this would also see him rush back.

But sources believe his British family will keep him in the country for a while longer.

He could stay for another couple of days as his grandmother reels from her loss.

A source told The Sun: “If all goes well, he could stay for the Queen’s birthday.”

The Queen celebrates her 95th birthday this coming Wednesday, on April 21.

Buckingham Palace has not unveiled plans for the day, but the Queen, who is still in mourning, will likely want to see her family.

Covid restrictions, which prevent gatherings of more than six or two households, mean people can’t meet for a party or other significant celebration.

Although they make up the “Royal Household” together, the Firm’s constituent families don’t all live under one roof.

As such, reports suggest the royals have drawn up alternative plans to give the monarch some support.

A source told the Daily Mirror she intends to welcome regular visitors to her Windsor Castle residence.

The Queen will have people who “care about her deeply” offer their support, they added.

The source told the publication: “The Queen will not be alone.

“She will have others who care about her deeply and want to be there to support her in her most pressing hour.”

“In typical fashion, the Queen has insisted she is coping and despite the suggestion she had prepared herself for this day to come, everyone is well aware there is nothing like the experience when it comes.”

The source didn’t mention whether royals would make up the proposed visitors.

They are likely eager to offer their support, and if Prince Harry does opt to stay, it would suggest they will meet in some capacity.

Until then, the Queen can count on the support of her staff and ladies in waiting.
