Prince Harry, 36, and Prince William, 38, are on very “different paths”, the Duke of Sussex said in the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this week. While Harry has quit the monarchy and relocated to the USA, William is gradually preparing to become king and will one day head up the Royal Family with his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39.
Asked about his relationship with William during his recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry told the US star: “Much will continue to be said about that.
“You know, as I’ve said before, I love William to bits. He’s my brother.
“We’ve been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But we , you know, we’re on different paths.”
Prince William and Harry appeared to grow apart ahead of the Duke’s wedding to Meghan Markle, 39, in 2018.
According to a royal insider, the brother’s fell out over William’s perceived treatment of Meghan.
A source told Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl: “Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so.
“They had a bit of a fallout, which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort.
“That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.”
Prince William is thought to have disapproved of the way Meghan and Harry announced their plan to quit as senior royals in January 2020 and relations between the two brothers seemed frosty at the Sussexes’ final official engagement last March.
Express.co.uk has rounded up five pictures in which things look tense between Prince Harry and William over the years.
1.) Anzac Day service – April 2018
Prince William seems to make no effort to engage neither, Meghan nor Harry, in conversation during an Anzac Day service at Westminster Abbey in 2018.
The picture was taken a month before Meghan and Harry tied the knot.
But despite being seated next to Meghan, William seems more interested in reading the programme than speaking to his future sister-in-law.

2.) RAF centenary – July 2018
Prince Harry appears to scowl at his older brother as they stand on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to watch the RAF centenary celebrations.
The photo was taken just months after Meghan and Harry’s wedding when the rift between the two brother’s was understood to have been in full swing.
Harry’s position behind William on the balcony was indicative of their different positions within the Royal Family.
As heir to the throne, William and Kate could stand up front beside the Queen while Meghan and Harry were stood behind.
3 .) Remembrance Day – November 2018
The Cambridges and the Sussexes stood side by side in Westminster Chapel ahead of the Remembrance Day service in 2018.
Both couples appear to be putting on brave faces for the public.
While Kate and Meghan wear strained smiles, William and Harry appear to be awkward in one another’s company.
4.) Commonwealth Service – March 2019
Precisely a year before Meghan and Harry’s official departure from the Fold, a breakdown in relations between the two brothers seemed visible during a joint appearance with their wives at Westminster Abbey.
Harry and William appear to avoid one another’s gaze as they stand side by side in the church waiting for the service to commence.
Harry wears a stony expression in the snap while William manages. to muster a polite smile.
5.) Commonwealth Service – March 2020
Tensions between Prince William and Harry appeared to peak during the Sussexes last ever engagement as senior royals in March 2020.
Harry and Meghan seemed to be blanked by Kate and William during the Queen’s Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.
The Sussexes were seated behind the Cambridges for the service but the two pairs did not appear to exchange one word throughout.
In this picture and awkward looking William follows the Queen and his father Charles out of the chapel after the service while a furious-looking Harry walks behind him.
