Prince Harry’s memoir Spare is most famous for dishing the dirt on the Royal Family and airing some previously undiscovered allegations about his time growing up and becoming a working royal.

But among the pages of drama, Prince Harry also told royal fans about some of his favourite foods, and how he and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, share a great love of all things cooking.

Delving into the early days of their relationship, Harry explains in the book that Meghan had to show him how to make one of his favourite foods – roast chicken.

Meghan also later confessed the couple actually got engaged while Harry was returning the favour and making his wife a roast dinner.

She said: “[We were] trying to roast a chicken and it just — just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.”

Prince Harry allegedly loves chicken so much it is one of his go-to meals, even when his wife was in labour.

In Spare, the Duke of Sussex recounts being in the hospital with Meghan as she is about to give birth.

While waiting for labour to be induced, Harry decided to order from Nando’s to “optimise” his wife’s peace of mind, with the meal being brought in by bodyguards.

Prince Harry also has a sweet tooth, revealing in the book that one of his favourite desserts is bread and butter pudding, a love he shares with his late mother Princess Diana.

For Harry’s 13th birthday in 1997, Eton College threw him a celebration party with some of his favourite desserts.

He was given a choice of two flavours, with the prince recounting he chose a blackcurrant and mango flavoured dish, which he claimed was another favourite of his mother, who had died just two weeks beforehand.

Back in 2016, Meghan also revealed her everyday eating habits, saying she avoids binge eating and sticks to a vegan diet during the week.

She shared that her “kryptonite” was French fries, but she also loves pasta, saying: “Who doesn’t love a carbohydrate?”

She continued: “But of course, when I’m filming, I’m conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.

She added: “But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.
