Prince Philip told the Queen he was “not going to put up with” Sarah Ferguson anymore, according to royal commentators. The Duke of Edinburgh’s fury burst after the Duchess of York and Prince Andrew announced their decision to divorce in 1992. Experts spoke to Channel 5 documentary, ‘When Fergie Met The Monarchy’, about how Fergie was received after the separation.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward told viewers: “Basically after the break-up of the marriage, the family ignores Fergie.
“Prince Philip is absolutely incandescent with rage with her.
“Because he feels that she’s let down the monarchy.
“The monarchy that he has spent his entire life supporting – i.e. his wife, the Queen.”
She continued: “In a few years, Fergie had reduced the reputation of the monarchy to shreds in his mind.
“He was absolutely not going to put up with it.
“He said to the Queen, ‘She is not coming here’.
“‘She’s out. I don’t ever want to see her again’.”
