Prince William and Prince Harry’s once-close relationship has been under strain for several years, particularly since Harry decided to step down from the royal fold in 2020. Since Harry’s departure, the royal brothers have reportedly had “very little communication”, with many royal fans speculating whether there is a chance of a reconciliation. Since 2020, Harry has frequently added fuel to the fire with various media outbursts and it has now been suggested that William possibly can’t “take the risk”, as future king, of a reunion over fears of any more major press leaks. Speaking on Australia’s Sunrise, royal expert Angela Mollard discussed the possible risks if the brothers were to engage in peace talks.

Ms Mollard said: “If William is to meet with Harry, if they are to ever build a bridge between the two of them, there has to be trust on both sides.

“[This is] that it will be within them [and] nothing will be leaked.

“[and] that they will have each other’s backs.”

She added: “William, as future king, cannot take the risk that his conversations and his, you know, any kind of closeness he establishes with Harry in the future is kept under the cone.”

Speaking previously to 60 Minutes Australia, royal author Tina Brown discussed the brothers’ “tense” relationship.

She said: “There is very little communication between Harry and William right now, very little.

“Unfortunately, the wounds of the Oprah [Winfrey] interview were deep, and then, of course, Harry’s kept it up since.

Ms Brown also noted that the announcement of Harry’s upcoming ‘tell-all” memoir “really rattled the family tremendously” and that the anticipation is “sort of, hanging over them now”.

Prince William needs ‘trust’ in Harry says commentator

During a previous interview with The Sun, royal commentator and author Angela Levin spoke about how Harry once told her that William “was the only person he could trust”.

She added, in the interview: “The Duke of Cambridge now knows that when Harry talks to any royal, he repeats it on a TV channel in America.”

In 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In this interview, the couple made some bold accusations against the Royal Family and William was reportedly “infuriated” by some of their claims.
