The Duke of Cambridge has followed the Monarch’s footsteps in dedicating his life to royal duties. The remarks come after the Duke of Sussex claimed during his explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey that he was “trapped” within the Firm.
He applied the same statement to other senior royals, including his brother and his father, the Prince of Wales.
During his and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview, Harry said he would have never relinquished his royal role had he not met his wife.
He said: “I would not have been able to. I myself was trapped as well.
“I didn’t see a way out. I was trapped but I didn’t know I was trapped.”
The Duke added that he was “trapped within the system like the rest of my family are”.
He said: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave.”
Speaking to the Sunday Times, an insider who is close to both brothers rejected Harry’s claims.
The source said Prince William has “accepted” his fate and “the path set for him”.
They added: “He is very much his grandmother’s grandson in that respect of duty and service.”
Despite reports suggesting the CBS special had deepened the divide between the two brothers, sources say Prince William is keen to patch things up.
The source told the Sunday Times: “Once he got over the anger of how things happened, he was left with the absence of his brother.

“They shared everything about their lives, an office, a foundation, meetings together most days and there was a lot of fun along the way. He’ll miss it forever.”
Another friend added: “It’s still raw. He’s very upset by what’s happened, though absolutely intent that he and Harry’s relationship will heal in time.”
Another person close to the Duke of Cambridge said they believe the pressure is “all on him” and his future has changed now that Harry quit royal life.
