Kate and Prince William visited this morning School21 in Stratford, east London, to celebrate the return of children to classes following the third national lockdown. The visit also marked the rollout to secondary schools of a mental health project for pupils already launched by Kate in primary schools in 2018.
The couple carried out today their first engagement in London of the year, having spent the past months of national lockdown in Norfolk with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The couple likely returned to the capital ahead of the reopening of schools on March 8, with their two eldest children attending Thomas’s Battersea.
For their first joint face-to-face visit of 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited a school in east London.
Both Kate and William were spotted being driven to the school wearing face coverings.
Kate’s face mask was paired with a long pink wool coat with an open collar above a pink shirt presenting a scalloped neckline and black trousers.
Prince William wore dark trousers, a baby blue shirt and a burgundy jumper underneath a long dark coat.
Today also marked the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were seen in public since Meghan and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah was broadcasted in the US and in the UK.
Meghan and Harry discussed their relationship with the Cambridges during a two-hour-long landmark interview which shook the Crown to its core.
The Duchess of Sussex spoke about claims she made Kate cry in the run-up to her wedding on May 19, 2018.
Meghan argued it was actually the other way round, with the Duchess of Cambridge making her cry during an argument focused on the dresses of the flower girls.
