On Tuesday it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will join a star-studded line-up at Vax Live to promote the coronavirus vaccine. Duncan Larcombe told talkRADIO that Prince William needs to be invited to these events in order to raise his status above celebrities but “the phone has stopped ringing” for the Duke of Cambridge.

Mr Larcombe said: “I don’t think anyone will say I was wrong in suggesting that it is their royal tag which is why Harry and Meghan are able to command hundreds of millions of dollars.

“And also why they seem to be at the very top wish list of all these groups.

“That is the point, with Prince Harry and Meghan being available for things like these global concert events – they’re being asked and the phone’s not ringing for William.

“That is the problem, that is why William needs to be there.

“He needs these big high-profile events that raise his status beyond that sort of the Hollywood A-list celebrities.

“That is really hard to do when you’ve got the younger brother being called up for invitations before you.”

Earlier this month, a royal biographer told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that Meghan Markle launched a global profile by “trashing” the Royal Family during her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Tom Bower stated that the Duchess of Sussex is now known worldwide as a result of her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The biographer added that Meghan Markle has taken the first step towards a successful political career in the US but at the expense of the Royal Family.

Mr Bower said: “She has got the right basis for it because she is ambitious and has a lot to say.

“I think her problem, first of all, is her sensitivity to criticism among other things.

“In the end, I think what she has managed to do with the Oprah Winfrey interview which trashed the Royal Family [is give herself] a global profile.

“She is now known across the world at the expense of the Royal Family.

“That is the first step to a political career and she has done that very successfully.”

He added: “She will have to build a team, she will have to get policies on China, trade, immigration, the economy and all the rest of it.

“But she is able to do that, she has got the money she has got presences, she is in the right place to do it in California.”
