The landmark CBS special sent shockwaves through the Royal Family, who saw themselves at the centre of serious allegations. Prince William, who according to Prince Harry is “trapped” in his royal duties, has carried on with day-to-day life in the public eye. However, according to a body language expert, the Duke of Cambridge has not been his usual self since the interview aired.
Andrea Gordon told Express.co.uk how the Duke stance’s at recent engagements suggested he had been affected.
She said: “Prince William usually has very relaxed, confident body language.
“He generally walks with his torso upright and on display, when seated for that matter too.”
However, commenting on a video of William and Kate shared last week by the Time to Change campaign, the expert pointed out that “there is a lot of finger fidgeting.”
Ms Gordon said: “Both Kate and William use the classic self soothe/ nervous hand gestures throughout – stroking and rubbing of hands.
“Our hands gives us away constantly, they, like the feet are where our excess energy shows.
“Indeed, William, at one point is quite forcefully massaging his poor thumb – a keeping focus tactic when in a stressful situation.
“He sits forward and there’s quite a bit of eye blinking – all signs of stress… though, as said with Kate above, this is probably exacerbated by the ordeal of public speaking to camera and using a teleprompter, though he is trained in this and his Grandmother does it skilfully once a year.”
She added: “So in conclusion, […] William has yet to return to his more laid back, unruffled, confident self.”
The Duke is said to be struggling to avoid defending his wife against claims Meghan Markle made against her regarding their reported fallout over flower girls’ gowns before her 2018 wedding.
One source told US weekly the Duke is only remaining silent because the Queen wants to keep the issue private.
The insider said: “The Queen is insisting that the royals handle the matter privately.”
They added that the Monarch “thinks that retaliating will only add fuel to the fire and make the situation worse.”
They added: “William is struggling to hold back. He wants to get his side out there.”
