Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have welcomed a baby girl into their family. The Queen’s granddaughter gave birth on Saturday, and has yet to announce the child’s name. She weighed 6lb 2oz, and was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, an NHS infirmary.

It comes much to the delight of fans who have gushed at the arrival of another royal baby.

Many have followed Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, and their journey into adulthood.

The two know what it’s like to live under the media spotlight after their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah ‒ affectionately known as Fergie ‒ endured a very public divorce.

Beatrice was eight years old when the pair officially ended things in 1996, while Eugenie was just six.

Despite the momentous fallout, Andrew and Fergie remained close.

In 2018, Fergie revealed the extent of her and her daughters’ relationship during a night out.

As she climbed into her personal car, a touching note from the sisters could be seen taped to the back of the passenger seat.

The note read: “I love you mummy xx.”

At the time, The Sun reported: “Judging by the label’s crumples and tatty edges, it had been there for quite a while.

“So we imagine it’s a sweet keepsake that Fergie likes to take with her when she’s away from Beatrice and Eugenie.”

Fergie has since said she feels like a “really good mum” after having taught her daughters not to repeat the same mistakes she made as a young person.

The Duchess of York, now 61, told People Magazine that she has always tried to make Eugenie and Beatrice aware of how she’d slipped up in the past, much of which led to intense media speculation.

One notable incident came in 1992 when the Daily Mirror published pictures of her lying on a sun bed while her financial advisor sucked her toes and kissed her feet.

Explaining she had embraced her past, she said: “And I’m a good mum because, in growing up, when the girls used to say, ‘Why can’t we do that?'”

“I would say, ‘Well, I’ve already made those mistakes.

“The world’s press has written about my mistakes, so you don’t need to make them now.

“So I’ve gone ahead of you to clear the way so that you can dream and grow and be who you are.”

She also said she has become “friends” with all her past mistakes saying she “didn’t know any better” at the time they were made.

She added: “How is it that we’re meant to be knowledgeable when we don’t know?”

Meanwhile, Beatrice’s baby girl is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, and will be 11th-in-line to the throne.

In a Twitter post, she said she was “so delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter”, thanking the midwife team and everyone at the hospital “for their wonderful care”.

In a statement, the Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

“The baby weighs six pounds and two ounces.

“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

“The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

Beatrice is stepmother to Christipher Woolf nicknamed ‘Wolfie’, from Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s previous relationship with ex-fiancee Dara Huang.
